This is the start of our first winter, and I am surprised to see snow today. Last week, we were wearing short every day. The kids were thrilled to see the snow, and it has been coming down pretty steady all day. The roads are clear though, and we had no trouble getting out and about. The wind however is very cold!!
A few weeks ago, I found snow boots for the kids, and Zhenya has been trying to wear them every day. I make him take them off every day. He was so excited to wear his boots today that we found him in his room with nothing on but his underwear and his snowboots!! I wish that was a picture I could have taken to post...it was so funny!
Here are my kiddos and Chai in the snow this morning!
This was Chai's first snow. At first, she didn't want to go into it, but once she did she loved it. She was bouncing around trying to bite it.
Yesterday, we had our second visit to the optometrist for Leeza. She didn't pass the eye exam at school, so I had to take her to the eye doctor. I knew it was not going to be as easy as a quick eye exam. Last year when we took her to Vanderbilt Children's hospital to their pediatric opthamologist, they said her vision was 20/20, but that she had an issue with her eyes turning. Obviously, we knew that because you could see it.
Over the last year, it has drastically improved, and now we only see her left eye turn when she is tired or she has been focusing a lot. So we were at the optometrist for two hours on Tuesday and one hour yesterday, and we still do not know conclusively what to do! I don't want to just go buy glasses for her if that isn't going to help things. Patching her eye was mentioned, but then there was confusion about which eye is the stronger eye..etc.... I am at a loss of what to do exactly. Before we do anything, we want to know exactly what the problem is and exactly how to fix it. Not just guesses. When she reads close up, she can read the lines perfectly, but the eye doctor is saying she is farsighted and can read everything so well because she is straining so much. She has had no headaches, and I have never seen her squinting her eyes when she read or does her school work. I am contacting our insurance to find out about getting another pediatric opthamologist to look at her rather than just the regular eye doctor. We are trying to prepare her that she will likely be getting glasses, but her pesty big brother is not helping matters much by teasing her about it. Younger or older, brother are such pests!!!
