Wow! Youre living it up over there! You are one of the very few families I have seen where I say "That looks like a nice place to stay!" most of them, im praying so hard because I cant imagine ever staying there! Glad y'all found a nice place. The view looks great!

It is very nice. More expensive than we wanted. This is a resort town though and it is vacation time. So we are in a very nice hotel. Most Ukrainian can't afford to stay here. However, compared to an American hotel it is cheap.

Maybe more expensive than you hoped, but at least you're not "indoor camping" like so many other families!

We are certainly not indoor camping. However, we met a girl who is staying in a cute house that leaves on the 28th. So we are going to move in there for the 10 day waiting period. It is not as nice as the hotel, but has a kitchen and a huge garden. The lady who lives there taught English 55 years ago...she is very sweet. It will save us some money, but I suspect we will be getting more of the real Ukrainian experience. The toilet and shower are outside in a bath house of sorts. I am actually excited about it. I know I may be crazy!!!

You need to weigh the cost of nice to saving money. If your transltor is leaving the hotel may be a better place to stay at least they know you.

So glad to know you are ALL doing well. I have been thinking and praying for you. Can't wait to meet the kids. I hope everything continues to go as well and you have safe travel back to TN.

We actually wanted to stay in a cheaper place, but this is vacation season and we are at a huge vacation spot. Nothing was available..we barely got this. We are moving into an apartment on Saturday...but it too has a decent toilet and shower and considerably less than the hotel. The hotel is actually not that costly either. We are actually spending less on lodging than I allocated. Outside of not having the ability to prepare our own foods..it isn't much more than we planned to spend overall. Transportation has been the huge cost. No train to this town, no plane..so only choice is a car. Plus when we first came, there were no seats on the train to the nearest large town due to the vacation season. Wish it was so easy just to get a cheap place..but each region is different. Our facilitator is really good, plus we used an agency so they are taking care of us in every way.

Once we move to the apartment will be able to cook. This hotel was the first thing available, it certainly was not our choice to chose a hotel over an apartment, but you have to take whatever is available. God is in control and He knew the circumstances so I will trust Him to provide!! :-)

Maureen,
Thank you for writing. I can't wait for you to meet them. Any suggestions on a good kindergarten teacher in LSSD?
Talk soon!
